This rather non-descript suburban house has the kitchen and bedrooms on the upper floor and a 2-car garage and family room on the lower floor. We reconnected the living areas of the house with the back yard by designing a 2 story, 1800 sf addition off the back of the house containing a kitchen and family area on the lower level and a master bedroom suite on the upper level. The kitchen has a large trellised patio adjacent to it and the master bedroom has a covered deck overlooking the back yard. Inside the existing house a new dining area was created where the family room was and the second floor has a home office and open work/play space for the children.
