This narrow home was built recently. It sits sideways on a narrow site but has a very chopped up floor plan. We proposed removing some of the interior walls, relocating the master bedroom suite to the back of the house and reconfiguring the stairs to give more room at the entrance. Because the building was located adjacent to a bird sanctuary at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, we proposed the style of the small building be changed to a more contemporary craftsman cottage style by using large oversized windows, board and batten and shingle siding and simple carpenter style trim around the doors, windows, soffits and fascias. The house feels bigger inside while creating an intimate scale on the outside.
